As dynamic, successful agents for Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty, Tom Scappaticci and Jean Ransdell’s days are best described as busy, challenging and rewarding -- but never, ever routine.
“We cannot imagine this career ever getting boring,” they both agree. “Each day brings new homes, lots and land, spec homes and new experiences, and best of all, exciting new people into our lives.”
Jean was born and raised in Illinois, she also lived for some time in New Jersey. Almost 20 years ago, she purchased a second home in Scottsdale, and several years later, decided to make the Valley of the Sun her permanent residence.
Tom was born and raised in the Detroit area and moved here after he graduated high school in the 70’s and has been a permanent resident and selling real estate since then.
“We have always loved it here,” they say, recalling her and Tom’s ties to the area, which includes family.
Ransdell, herself a graduate of the University of Delaware, originally worked as a sales representative before becoming a very happy stay-at-home mom after her youngest child of 3 was born. But as she puts it, she’s had real estate in her blood for many years, beginning with taking the Real Estate Licensing course in 1983. Later, when her children were still quite young, this powerhouse agent dabbled in property management and found she still had a keen taste for the industry.
“I really enjoyed property management and thought a more expansive career in real estate was the next logical step because it allowed me to blend my professional sales ability and my personal love of real estate,” she says. “It’s definitely been a win-win career decision for me.”
Tom was a dynamic agent selling new builds when he relocated to the area from the Detroit and then progressed into the luxury market, becoming a broker with his own real estate company. With the market down turn he has since specialized in the luxury market, including luxury specs, lots and land. Tom is a father of two and a grandpa of two much adored grandchildren.
When not busy listing and selling some of the area’s most desirable homes, Ransdell and Scappaticci say they love nothing more than spending time with friends and family and love rescuing and fostering pets, including their well-loved rescue dogs, Peanut Butter and Jelly. Their friends often joke that in their next life, they want to come back as one of our pets because we love and treat them so well,” which includes their every Sunday, Fun Day taking their pups to JJ’s Deli for their own side of bacon and then to the park to run and have fun.
